Da Vinci's painting style is that of the High Renaissance style. He was the first artist to really use consistent value across the color palette, meaning he blended colors naturally in paintings, creating volume as opposed to fragmentation. As an oil painter, da Vinci was able to utilize depth and intensity to create warmth. Additionally, da Vinci used chiaroscuro to create depth with light and dark color. While he did use color in nearly all of his paintings, they were more subdued and paler colors.
